The 5th annual Tar N Trail 6 mile run through Lithia and Strawberry-Hald Parks is slated for Saturday March 10th at 8am.
After coming to a compromise with Parks Department to alleviate traffic on the wood chipped trails through lower Lithia Park we will now stage our starting area on the last block of pavement before Pioneer Street turns to dirt and heads into the park. More specifically, just south of the Elizabethan Theater at the confluence of Pioneer/Hargadine/Fork Streets.
From there the race will enter the park on Pioneer and take the first set of trails to the left, yes uphill, following the slope between Glenview and Pioneer streets. The race will tie in to the old course where it departed the wood chipped trails and switchbacked above Ashland Creek. Don't worry, it will be well marked!
We are looking forward to a large turn out to help benefit the AWTA and their efforts to solidify funds for the NEPA study that will grant approval for the new trails master plan. Please come out to show your support of trails in Ashland and this great race.
Until then, good luck with the training!
