Rogue Valley Runners took home top honors last weekend at the
Trinidad to Clam Beach Run and Walk.
Trinidad is located 285 miles north of San Francisco in Humboldt County, The Trinidad to Clam Beach Run began as a winter training race for Humboldt State Track and Field runners. Over the years, it has evolved into a nationally known run, with a 3 mile and 5 ¾ mile run being added.
Tim Julian, former and now more frequent resident of Ashland, ran away with the 8 and 3/4 run in a time of 45:56.
Neil Olsen was first Masters finisher in a time of 48:36, showing he is progressing towards another fine showing at this year's
Pear. In the 5 and 3/4 run Todd Ragsdale, sans shoes, finished first in a time of 33:52 while Joe Griffin rounded out the top 5 with a time of 35:53. Todd, I sure hope your
writing isn't suffering from this added running.
We've got to get Tim an RVR Jersey, email me!
Is that Nixon?
Ashland and Crater High represented well as coaches Julian and Loftus brought a strong contingent of runners to the coast to partake in this annual right of passage. I have no idea why the gentlemen wore ties but I can tell you there weren't many that could catch them to ask what for.
Justin and Neil Seibert keeping pace.
Bob Julian, 49:05
Grizzlies on the Beach!
Congrats go out to Mike Sotos, Shahid Ali, Kelly Lange and Whit Brake for braving the rain and crossing the mouth of the Little River at Moonstone Beach. Although these pics look flat, the course climbs high along the coast and through the redwoods along the rolling Scenic Drive. Certainly a challenging yet rewarding run and a strong recommendation for any Southern Oregonian.
Sotos looks motivated.
Shahid, digging in!
